Wanna Share Your Twilight Obsession?? "My Life is Twilight"

Check out this website where you can share your Twilight obsession and read about others. Some are funny, some are sad. LOL

New Moon Still On Top But Not By Much (Yikes!)

The Associated Press is reporting......

'New Moon' keeps top box office spot with $42.5M (AP)
Source: AP Sun Nov 29, 2009

LOS ANGELES - Vampires and werewolves continue to howl at the box office with a $42.5 million weekend for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

The "Twilight" sequel remains No. 1 for a second straight weekend, though it was nearly blind-sided for the top spot by a real-life football drama.
"The Blind Side" had a great second weekend with $40.1 million, coming in at No. 2 just behind "New Moon." The inspirational story of Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher stars Sandra Bullock as a woman whose wealthy family takes in the homeless teen and enrolls him in private school.
While the weekend haul for "New Moon" dropped steeply from the movie's $142.8 million opening, "The Blind Side" actually went up from its $34.1 million first weekend.
Let's not let New Moon slip out of the top spot!!

Wondering Why Edward Wore a Suit? Why Jacob Wore Tight Jean Shorts??

EW talked to Trish Monaghan, Costume Designer for New Moon and Eclipse about the looks we saw in New Moon ansd will see in Eclipse. I found this article extremely interesting and love how much thought and research went into it! I think they did a much better job this time with the costuming.
.....he’s getting into his graduation year, he’s in a relationship. He had worn hoodies and jeans and sneakers, and Robert, the director [Chris Weitz], and I all wanted to portray him more as a gentleman, more elegant and classic. With our vampire characters, I always went back to the time period in which they were turned to see if there’s any element I could try to simulate in contemporary clothing.....
....You had to be very careful with where the shorts fall on the hip bone, we had to make sure everything sits at the same place when they run. Each individual actor had their own request, but we also had requests from the visual effects department, because if we had big, loose shredded shorts on when they morphed into wolves, it’s too much work and too many hours to magically get rid of that clothing on camera. They wanted the shorts as close-fitting to the leg as possible, whereas the natural tendency of the guys would be to have something baggier so that they didn’t look like they were wearing hot pants. [Laughs] So if I knew they were going to morph, then they had tighter-fitting shorts.....

A Word on the CG Wolves and Taylor's Eyes

from LA Times.

SCENE STEALER
Patrick Kevin Day spoke with effects legend Phil Tippett about creating the werewolf effects for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," (and no, we're not talking about Taylor Lautner's supernatural 16 pack)......

Darkness may be a visual effects artist's best friend, but his biggest enemy isn't bright sunlight -- it's the overcast day. So adding all those CG werewolves to scenes shot in cloudy Vancouver, Canada, was a particular challenge for "New Moon" visual effects supervisor Phil Tippett and his team. "On a sunny day, you get
really nice contrasts, but with flat lighting and a furry thing -- the fur really soaks up the light and everything appears flat," Tippett said. "So to make it appear three-dimensional, we had to goose reality. We emphasized their shadows and used rim lights" to make the wolves stand out from the background. But that's not the only way Tippett and company played with reality. When that wolf checks out Bella, it's not a wolf's eyes, it's Jacob's. "We brought Taylor [Lautner] in and had him haul his eyelids back as far as possible and shot close-ups." They then added those eyes to the giant animated timber wolf used in the scene.

New Moon DVD Details

The movie just hit the theaters a few days ago, but MTV and Chris Weitz have some details about the DVD which is expected to hit stores in the first quarter of 2010. Is it wrong that I can't wait for the DVD?? (I am particularly excited to watch the movie with the commentary, that is seriously the best way to watch Twilight on DVD)
"There will be a commentary track," Weitz revealed, saying that he'll soon head into the recording booth with his three big stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. "It'll just be us riffing off each other in our intimate way," he grinned. "We kind of like each other, so that should be fun."

There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material," he explained, promising some meaty footage. "It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans." Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows was shot but did not make the final "New Moon" cut, including:
» A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car,
snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the
nomadic vampire.
» A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.
» Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward's car.
» More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.
» An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.
» Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick's Jessica.

"When I made the film, I wanted it to arrive at a certain kind of flow and cadence," Weitz said of why he had to leave so many scenes on the cutting-room floor but hopes to restore many for the DVD. "[They would have affected] how the movie worked, and they didn't completely fit. But there'll be some groovy stuff in [the DVD]."

LOL...Groovy.

Wyck Godfrey Talks About The Making of Bella's Cliff Dive

I think it's safe to say it's one of the most important parts of the book and movie - Bella's Cliff Dive. That one moment set off a whole chain of events and well we all know how that ended :-). Twilight Saga Producer Wyck Godfrey talks about how that scene was brought to life in the movie.

New Moon Kicks Some Serious Opening Weekend Butt

Reports are all over the place that New Moon broke records and exceeded expectations for opening weekend. With numbers like this, can the announcement of Breaking Dawn be too far off? From MTV.com...

On Friday alone, "New Moon" managed to earn $72.7 million, surpassing "The
Dark Knight" as the single best opening day in cinema history. A hefty $26.3
million chunk of that Friday change came purely from midnight showings,
propelling "New Moon" past "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" with the highest-grossing midnight opening of all time. "New Moon" also debuted with the biggest November opening ever and the third-best opening weekend of all time, taking that distinction away from "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

To put the success of "New Moon" in perspective, the first "Twilight"
film — which opened almost a year ago to the day — earned only $69.6 million in
its debut weekend, demonstrating just how widespread the "Twilight" craze has
become in only 12 months.

TwilightMoms & Amanda in USA Today

USA Today ran a story on how woman are "mooning" over New Moon. NEPA TwilightMom Amanda (also a moderator and PR rep for the TwilightMOMS.com) spoke with them and has a quote in the article.

"Women really appreciate that because they can read them with their daughters or
younger sisters and not be embarrassed," says Amanda Belcher, 27, a public-relations executive outside Scranton, Pa., who helps run TwilightMoms.com, which has 34,000 members 21 or older.

Oh, Come On Ryan

Last night while doing the Red Carpet thing, Robert stopped in to chat with Ryan Seacrest (it looks like he has a little broadcast booth set up there). Ryan asked THE question, not sure why he had to do that. I love me some Ryan Seacrest and love how he loves the Twilight Saga, but he knew he wasn't supposed to go there and I just can't understand why he felt the need to anyway. Watch the clip here....

NEPA TwilightMoms & New Moon

A group of the NEPA TwilightMoms will be hitting Rodano's around 8 pm on Thursday night before heading to the midnight release of New Moon at RC Theatres in Wilkes-Barre. Stop by if you want to join us for snacks and drinks or just say Hi!!
Then on Sunday...
Some of us are going to see New Moon at Cinemark in the afternoon and heading out eat after the movie for some discussion time. I can't imagine that we'll have much to talk about....Yeah right!! I am sure we will all have lots to say about the movie! Looking forward to seeing/chatting with everyone again!

NEPA TwilightMoms on the Radio??

I just got a phone call saying that the NEPA TwilightMoms were mentioned on KRZ this morning! How exciting. Did anyone hear it or know how it happened? Comment and let us know.
If you heard about us on KRZ and are interested in finding out more about our group, leave a comment with your email address!

Reports & Pictures from the Red Carpet

There's a LOT of stuff out this morning. I will do my best to gather it up at some point today.

Stephenie Meyer about Vampires: We're on a Break

Stephenie addresses the Midnight Sun issue.....

To address the many, many questions about Midnight Sun:

I've found that there really isn't any answer I can give that changes the substance or tenor of the myriads of requests, pleadings, and demands I get for Midnight Sun to be finished, so I feel a little silly answering that question at all. But it's the most popular question, so I'll take another stab at it.

I am not working on Midnight Sun now. I don't have a plan for when I'll get to it; I don't know now what the right time for it will be.

In your questions, there were some erroneous conclusions about the situation which I'll try to set straight. First, Midnight Sun is not finished and locked in a safe, waiting for me to be done angsting over the leak. If it were done, I would be throwing it on the bookstore shelves myself. I'd love to be able to give it to all the people who are anxiously waiting for it. Second, I am not upset about the leak. I haven't been for a long time; I was over it after about three weeks. Third, and most important, I am not trying to punish anyone. Not the persons who leaked it, not the people who read the leak, nobody. As I said, it would make me very happy to be able to give it to anyone who wants it.

So why the hold up? Because it's not finished and lying in a safe. It's not done, and finishing it is not a simple matter of sitting down in front of my computer and typing out the words; the words have to be there in my head to type out, and right now, they're not. I have to be in the zone to write any story, and trying to force myself into that zone is a waste of time, I've found. I'll get back to Midnight Sun when the story is compelling to me again. Just because people want it so badly does not make it more write-able; kind of the opposite, actually. I need to be alone with a story to write, and Midnight Sun feels really crowded, if you know what I mean.
People write for different reasons. I have always written to make myself happy. If I'm enjoying a story, feeling the creativity flow, engrossed in a world, then I write and I write fast. If I'm not into it, I can't write. I've never been someone who writes on demand and I can't imagine working that way. As cool as it would be to say to my favorite author, "You know, I'd really like to read a great book about a narwhal mafia. Write that for me, 'kay?" or even "I'd love a sequel to that last one," that's not how it works. How it works is that my favorite author writes a new book about whatever he/she is interested in. Maybe it takes a year, maybe it takes five. If it's something I want to read, I buy it or I check it out at the library. If not, I find something else to read. The end.
(All of this goes for writing about vampires in general, too. Vampires and I? We're on a break.)
I'm pretty sure this won't slow the pleadings and the demands, but I didn't want you to think I was ignoring the question.
In the meantime, there are so many great books out there. I've got some recommendations on my site, and any librarian would love to show you more options. Same goes for independent bookstore employees. Ask for guidance, and they will fill your arms with awesomeness!

Stephenie Wanted Blue October

As most of you reading this know I am a little obsessed with Blue October. The fact that they are a part of the world of the Twilight Saga (as one of Stephenie's musical inspirations) makes me amazingly happy. Also most of you would agree that BO's music is probably most associated the feelings and some scenes in New Moon (Hate Me, Into the Ocean). AND Stephenie & Justin Furstenfeld (lead singer & songwriter for BO) toured together talking about the influence of music on her writing!

The thing is Blue is noticeably absent from the New Moon Soundtrack.

I am pleased to find out that Stephenie wanted them there, too. We are not sure if they were asked and declined or not approached at all. LOL Somehow thinking it was Blue's choice not be on the Soundtrack makes me feel all better.

Here's a Q&A from her site...
Hi Stephenie, I know that your writing is inspired a lot by the music you listen to, so my question is how much say did you have in the music that was picked for the movie/soundtrack? Thank you! - Marci P.

Not a ton. I had a short wish list, and I got one wish out of the four, and that's really a lot when you think about it. My answered wish: a Muse song. My wishes that were not granted: a Blue October song, a Marjorie Fair song, and a Motion City Soundtrack song. All of these artists were a big part of the New Moon writing process for me, and I would have liked to see them included, but in the end, the soundtrack is truly amazing, so I don't have any complaints.

Stephenie Meyer Answers Fan Questions

Stephenie has posted some fan questions and her answers over on her website. You can check them out here.

News

There has been SO much New Moon in the new lately that I just couldn't report on all of it! I bet there are hundreds of interviews and videos from the past two weeks. I don't really understand why they make the actors and director do all this media stuff. New Moon was already everywhere I can't imagine this media blitz will being any more fans to the movie. :-) But I can't say I really mind an opportunity to listen to Rob speak. LOL Here are a few things...

Amanda, one of our NEPA TwilightMoms, is an active member and Moderator on TwilightMOMS. And guess what!? She interviewed Kristen Stewart!!! Check it out here.
Stephenie Meyer will be on Oprah today!! This is Stephenie's only media appearance to promote New Moon, rumor has it it's a great show! Check it out locally on NBC at 4:00pm.
Sorry for the lack of reporting lately - as I said the volume of interviews and such has been really overwhelming! Plus I have been sidetracked this week by our Hush Hush Cover week over on Fallen Archangel. Check it out!

New Moon Media Blitz

The Media Blitz for New Moon, which hits theaters in 17 days, 15 hours and 40-something minutes (not that I am counting or anything), is in full force.

Kristen and Taylor spent the weekend in Sao Paulo, Brazil, click here to read about their press conference and for a translation of their interview.

Rob, on the other hand, headed to Japan this weekend.
The three of them are scheduled to make a LOT of appearances the week the movie hits theaters, a few in NY (The Today Show, Regis & Kelly). Anyone planning on heading to the city to catch a glimpse of our favorite actors??
