Multepulciano

There's a lot of news and many pictures coming out of Italy.

From the sounds of things rehearsals and fliming have begun! And it all sounds really, I mean really great! It looks and sounds like they are making Stephenie's story and all the details, come to life as she intended! I hope she will be there for at least part of the filming of the Italy scenes. How stinking exciting this is!

Twilight Saga: New Moon - Offiicial Movie Website

It's here.

Check out one of the goodies....

OK I went out of town for like 40 hours, seems like nothing. But BAM I find out I missed some pretty big news. Well maybe not news, but some new set pics which are like a 'fix' for all of us addicts LOL. I am sure there's a lot more 'news' to be found as well.

Off to the baseball field this morning and have a family party this afternoon so I'll get it posted when I can.

Lots Happening in Montepulciano

As they prepare the shoot scenes for New Moon.....

First we HAVE a fountain!

And now, yes that's right, we HAVE a yellow porsche!!

Reports indicate the sightings of a helicopter flying often over the square and the Mayor (and other important looking people) visiting. They have begun dress rehearsals with some of the extras and are still selecting even more. New Moon is huge for them!! I can only imagine how cool it must be for those who were chosen as extras!

Response to New Moon Movie Poster

LOL Here's a funny response to the New Moon Poster.

First France.....

Rob has 'stopped over' in France before heading to Italy to film the Volterra scenes for New Moon. He is currently in Cannes promoting Little Ashes and Remember Me (a new movie he will be filming this summer between New Moon & Eclipse). Check out this picture of him in, what I think is, quite an Edward pose. Maybe he is subconsciously promoting New Moon there as well LOL.

And here's a little taste of the sheer volume of press/media that Rob has to deal with (and this only appears to be half, or less, of the group)...

New Moon Movie Poster (OFFICIAL)

The Official Movie Poster was leaked on-line yesterday. BUT the Summit officially released the high quality version this morning!!!! What do you think??? I really love it, I think the placement of Jacob is a little odd, it's Edward's leaving that drives this story, not really Jacob getting between them. Eh, I LOVE it anyway. We are one step closer to the movie!!! (eta: Now we just need an official photo of the Volturi!)

Get Together

A few of us were able to meet for lunch today. We had a great time talking about Twilight (of course) and all sorts of other things. We spent a lot of time talking about books, so after lunch we moved on to Barnes & Noble for a little book browsing.

Here's a shot of us at the restaurant....

We are planning a Game Night Get-Together for mid June. Stay tuned for details!

New Moon News

It sounds like shooting, in Vancouver, is quickly wrapping up. Word has it today is the final day for most or all of the actors.

Lainey Gossip is reporting that today they are shooting in the meadow (yay yay yay) and she believes it to be the dream with "Gran" from the very beginning of the book. I wonder if they will age Kristen for that dream or bring in an older actor. I hope they age Kristen, it'd be neat to see that, and more realistic.

HisGoldenEyes is reporting that Rob's Italy double has been selected and that the number of extras being used for the scene in the square has gone up from 500 to 1500. WOW!

Man, the more I hear about the filming, the more excited I get for this movie!! So far it sounds like they have really 'gotten' the book in this one, of course who knows what will happen in editing :-)

Getting Ready for New Moon in Italy

According to the Twilight Lexicon they are prepping 'Volterra'.

This just in from Twilighters Italia.

“Today there were in Montepulciano some trucks unloading benches and fake gothic statues in the main square, piazza grande. Then all the stuff was carried in the municipality hall.
It is said that the crew took also a red flag and some spears from a near building (since in Montepulciano most of the buildings have colorful flags hanged on the doors).”

Things The Twilight Movie Got Right

We have all spent our fair share of time talking about the things in the Twilight movie that weren't quite right and didn't really stick to the book. Let's talk a little about the stuff that was right. It's always good to balance things out :-)

These, of course, are just my opinion. I really want to hear yours!

CASTING!!!! I cannot talk enough about the great job that was done in casting Twilight. To me all of the characters feel right. They may not look exactly as I had imagined, and initially I wasn't sure about a few. But once I saw them in the movie I felt really good about them. Billy Burke as Charlie was one that I was initially concerned about, when I looked at his picture I just couldn't see Charlie. But gosh, after seeing the movie did I ever change my mind! He was great!

CASTING (AGAIN) - THE CARS The Cullens' cars and Bella's truck are very important part of the book. It's really great that most of them are 'right'. Now, I swear, I will never understand why Edward was driving a hatchback, but hey at least it was a silver Volvo. And OK maybe the cars appeared at the wrong times in the movie, but I guess they had to get their money's worth out of them. All in all, the fact that we have Rosalie's convertible, Emmett's Jeep, Carlyle's Mercedes, Edward's Volvo and Bella's Truck is enough to make me happy!

MUSIC - THE SCORE!! It's important to note that I am a fan of movies scores. I like being able to listen to the music and picture the scenes long after I have seen the move. The Twilight score was different than I had imagined, but really great. The music tied together so nicely throughout the movie. Probably one of the most important and most anticipated songs was Bella's Lullaby. Again it was not quite what I (or most) had expected. However, after listening to it (many times) and seeing it in the movie I was sold. It is now one of my favorite songs from the score/soundtrack. I hope that although the composer is different for New Moon, they will continue to weave the threads of this score through the New Moon Movie.

MUSIC (AGAIN) - THE SOUNDTRACK!!! Ok I don't think I have to say too much about this. Clearly this soundtrack kicks ass! LOL I love how it has a great mix of music from old and new artists. Of course it doesn't hurt that our very favorite sparkly vampire portrayer is on there, too. ((swoon)) Music played a huge role in Stephenie writing these books so it's a given that it is an important part of bringing them to life on the big screen.

VAMPIRE BASEBALL I have heard critics tear this apart (and burn the pieces LOL) But I absolutely LOVED this part of the movie. The actual baseball playing was just as I think it should have been. Loved the song they used during the game, loved Emmett climbing the tree, loved Edward & Emmett's mid-air collision, loved Rosalie's disgust at Bella.... Ok you get the idea. I loved that part.

LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST.... THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CULLENS!!! The way the Cullens came into the cafeteria, with the great back ground music and Jessica & Angela's explanations - Fabulous!! "Who are they?" "Doctor Cullen is like this Foster Dad / Matchmaker." "Maybe he'll adopt me." "Who's he?" It was so easy to (somehow) turn into a 13 year old fan girl screaming with delight as Edward walked through the doorway!

I'm sure there are many more. What do you think??

Oh this is priceless (another from the Twilight Widower)

Jacob Black - Honourary Widower

The other day, my wife confronted me for not meeting one of my Man Duties.

"You still haven't fixed my bike," she scolded. (I had promised to do so some months ago.)
"Edward would have fixed Bella's bike by now," she huffed.

"No he wouldn't," I said. "Jacob Black would have fixed Bella's bike. If Edward wanted something fixed, he’d make Rosalie do it."

"Or Edward would have bought her a new bike," she retorted.

“That’s a waste. Why spend money on a new bike when the old bike just needs a tune-up?”

“Edward would make sure the old bike went to someone who needed it.”

I stared at her, flabbergasted. I had forgotten the first rule of Twilight-Widowhood – never pick a fight with Edward. You won’t win.

As I slunk off, I suddenly felt a strong surge of kinship with Jacob Black.

Like Jacob, deep in our bones, we know better than to try to compete with Edward, but still, we can’t help trying. And the similarities don’t end there.

Jacob Black. We know just how it feels, brother.

Jacob, like us Twilight-Widowers, is just a regular guy. Both Jacob and Twilight-Widowers have problems with excessive hair growth and odours. (Hair and scent are the true measure of a man. You should always be suspicious of a man who smells good and doesn't have to shave his face.) When you need something fixed, like Bella with her motorcycles, you come to us.

We never claim to be able to read minds, but we know you better than Edward does regardless. Once we've imprinted on you, there is no getting rid of us. We don't buy into such noble nonsense as "It's safer if I'm not around you," or "I bring nothing but danger into your life." Maybe we're bad for you, but we don't care, 'cuz you're pretty.

And like Jacob Black, we'll violate our promises, oaths, and sacred traditions at the drop of a hat if we think it will impress you. Sure, Jacob might have broken an ancient pact with a coven of vampires that has kept the peace with his people for generations, but a pretty girl asked him to. Can you blame him?

But, at the end of the day, how can a guy who rebuilds engines and eats hot dogs compete with someone who can buy an island? He can’t. That’s why I think Jacob deserves some special recognition from Twilight-Widowers. After all, Jacob was the first guy to lose his love to Edward Cullen, which, in a sense, makes him the very first Twilight Widower.

Poor Jacob Black.

Twilight Widowers

Twilight Widowers is a really great blog, done by (what else) a Twilight Widower! This one entry really cracked me up! I laughed especially hard at #3 and #6.

Tricks of the Trade

After exhaustive study of the habits of Twilight Widowers, I came across a
blog that identified the Five stages of Twilight-Widower-Grief (Suspicion, Denial, Anger, More Anger, Complacency).

I myself have gone through these stages.

Suspicion ("Honey? Are you watching Twilight again?" and "Did you just call me ‘Edward’?")

Denial ("I'm sure it's just a phase. I don't mind ironing her work clothes.")

Anger ("No, I am not making mushroom ravioli again!")

More Anger ("No, we are not buying tickets for the Twilight cruise!")

Complacency ("Here, honey, I printed up Midnight Sun and bound it for you. Now you won't get eyestrain.")

Now that I have resigned myself to the role of complacent Twilight Widower, I have discovered that despite the seemingly endless neglect us Twi-Widowers often endure, there are some surefire ways to get the wife to pay attention to you (albeit for a few sweet, brief minutes until the latest New Moon news is posted).

Here is my advice to you, fellow long-suffering spouse:
  1. Whenever talking to her, try to sneak the words "Robert Pattinson" into your sentences. She will immediately perk up and give you her undivided attention. (I have found this method to be particularly effective when discussing responsibility for household chores.)

  2. Use pillow hair to your advantage. Tell her you are going for an "Edward Look."

  3. Piggyback her around your local park and tell that she's your own personal brand of heroin. Never mind the stares – it will all be worth it when you get home.

  4. Buy body glitter. The next time you are in the mood to "reap the benefits," apply liberally. (Note: It is useful to have a Handivac for the sheets afterwards.)

  5. Read the Wikipedia summary of the Twilight Series, so you can pretend that you have read the books yourself. When "discussing" them, just nod sagely when she describes parts omitted in the summary.

  6. When in bed, place your cold feet on the small of her back. Tell her "I bet this is how he felt on their wedding night." (Results may vary.)
  7. Edward's whole body feels like cold feet.

  8. Secretly disconnect your modem. When she begins to panic about the loss of up-to-date Twilight news, heroically restart the modem (after several false starts and mock exasperation on your part; you have to make her believe this is hard work for you). Reap benefits.
  9. Start a Twilight blog yourself. Ask her for "input" regularly.

And just remember: Barring another book getting published, this whole obsession is bound to peter out in about three year’s time. I’m counting the days.

Go Team Widower.

..Not Edward Cullen...

Here's a little something for all the men in our lives who will never live up to Edward LOL.
